You know the old adage “Practice makes perfect.” – well, it’s true for an EFDA. We spend most of our day placing fillings – both silver and tooth-colored – for the general dentists here at HealthPark. In fact, we love it. Thanks to our specialized training and state boards, we enjoy crafting a beautiful tooth for you to replace broken down or decayed smiles. With the new tooth-colored materials we use, often if we are repairing a front tooth – you won’t even be able to tell where your natural tooth ends and our filling begins.
We love helping people have the attractive smile they want.
As the highest level dental assistants in the practice, we are responsible for taking care of most fillings, placing sealants for children and working with the more advanced shading for crowns and adjustments for appliances such as partials, dentures and retainers. By working with both general dentists, we allow them to take care of emergency patients same day and we keep your costs lower by saving dentist time.
We help patients:
- Screening emergency patients to determine which tooth is causing pain and assisting the dentist to get patients comfortable. Our dentists believe in helping patients in pain and I usually have 1-2 hours reserved in case you have a problem so we can get you in the day you call.
- Can answer questions on any procedure a patient wants in general dentistry – are you deciding between an implant, bridge or partial denture? I can help you.
- EFDA certified – I place fillings and sealants after the dentist removes tooth decay. Since this is how I spend 80% of my time, I am an expert at both silver & tooth-colored fillings so if you have a chipped or discolored tooth, I can replace the broken piece or cover over the discoloration with a light shade of composite plastic and completely remake your smile.
- Provide photos, xrays for new patients and help them to get to know our general dentists and become comfortable with our office and the quality of dentistry we provide
- With my special training and years of experience, I can help the general dentists with more advanced, difficult procedures on TM joint therapy, snore appliances, denture adjustments, splint adjustments, whitening tray adjustments and other procedures that require an extensive understanding of dentistry.
- Make and adjust temporary crowns to support patients as they are waiting for the lab to complete their final crown – so if you break your temporary crown, I can make a new one for you so you’ll be comfortable.
- Coronal polishing license – I can polish teeth to remove stain
